Maybe they will just switch to a Garett bb chra and call it done. I mean hell they are almost there.

someone should start a poll to see who has a stock location bb fp turbo and whether or not they have the oil control problem or not. would be nice to know how big this problem is. I certainly have my doubts fp is being upfront about the frequency of the problem.

If you can only find a couple if threads of LEAKY turbos then you are finding people who don't know how to deal with a built motor most likely. They sell soon many turbos it is ridiculous and there are a couple of people complaining. People are capable of screwing up anything and never take personal responsibility. So Fire escape either needs to grasp the idea that a car making quadruple stock power will never be a stock car in terms of maintenance and reliability. I have had Garrett DBB CHRA failure. It happens. But keep cursing FP and others will keep making big power. It isn't like some other manufacturers out here don't have real issues like turbine housings falling apart wastegate actuators warping, flappers falling off and turbos blowing apart and they have a much smaller number of units in the field. FP is a stand up company with great products. And for the record I don't even currently have one of their turbos but I recommend them and desire a DBB Green in the worst way. I just want more top end and love the other "unreliable" brand of turbos PTE too. BTW on my blown up engine my stock Turbo leaked from the CHRA too. Must have been a bad Turbo! Hahaha.

yeah come to think of it when I had my stock 8 turbo it spit out a ton of oil and everytime I took off my lower intercooler pipe there was some oil sitting in there, ever since I switched to my FP HTA71 I haven't had the problem!

A turbo doesn't "blow seals" from Crank pressure it leaks oil because it can't drain out of the oil return into the pan. If your Turbo is spewing oil or your car is smoking usually you have something wrong with the oil return or PCV system. Fix that and the Turbo will be fine. However run it like that too long and the Turbo could get a ton of carbon build up from burning oil and get damaged.

Of course you are! Low 10's on a stock appearing Turbo is nothing to be impressed with!

Do you just make this up in your head batty200. I can tell you there is nothing at all wrong with my oil return line, or my PCV system. I can also tell you that no evo would be as well maintained as mine. I ran my stock 9 turbo to 400hp and never had any problem with oil leakage, I run my my FP Black to maybe 490hp and from the first drive oil leaked into the intake tube, it's so bad now that the oil is being thrown out of the turbo and is going the foot back up to the air filter and is soaking it with engine oil.

There was a conversation on the Aussie EvolutionSquad Facebook page about this, with another member asking about his leaking FP BB turbo and what he could do. People chimed in and the general suggestion was, throw it in the bin and replace it with another brand of turbo. People had tried the cam cover venting method with no luck, one member had returned his turbo to be checked and, after paying expensive two way shipping from Australia to the States and back, received his turbo back from FP, installed it and, guess what....it still leaked oil on the first drive.

I've said it before on here, if you are going to sell a product that is designed to be installed on a tuned motor, it has to function on tuned motors. Saying "yeah, our turbo is perfect so if it leaks oil it's your fault" just doesn't cut it in my mind, especially when the product costs $2500. If the stock turbo works fine then the fancy new $2500 turbo should too, and if it doesn't, it either a faulty product or a product with faulty design.

At this point that's all I can say but it will all become clear soon enough

Crossing my fingers that it is a redesign on the hotside to become a bolt-on turbo again
