What is your opinion on this stoker kit on part quality and price?

I am going to buy and evo 4 soon and the plan is to build the engine. The baisc plan at this stage is to do a 2.3 stroker, garrett gt53r and either meth or 50/50 water meth injection. The car will be used just as a street car and i hope to make around 500hp at the wheels but of course all this could change with time and recomendations from people with more info and experence (you guys). Anyway this is the stroker kit I am looking at getting (link below) and i was wondering what your thoughs are on it and if its not good where to get a kit from. I am from new zealand so ams kits and stuff like that are a bit out of my price range once the shipping cost and taxes are put on. Thanks for any replys in advance.

That's a good kit, but why is it so overpriced on the NZ website?

It would make sense for that price that the Manley Billet crank was added and not the forged, but the stroker kit with the forged crankshaft on Maperformance's website is nearly 300 USD less than what is listed on Manon Racing's website...

Even with shipping it won't cost you that much.

Yes, I did the USD to NZD conversion, it's still more expensive.

So it'll cost you more if you order it directly from Maperformance? I mean if with taxes and all that it costs like 50-100 USD less I wouldn't even bother going though the hassle of waiting.

But what taxes do you pay for importing stuff and how much?

you could also use an OEM 100mm crank to drop down the price. Map has that option.

I had a meth setup in my built 2.0, FP black and meth.
I didn't like the driveability on meth, It was either your on it or your not.
It's only fun so many times until it wears off and it becomes a hassle.
Did you consider e85 instead?
My 2 cents

It's ridiculous here but you are correct. It is much cheaper to order straight from the US than a reseller here. Even with shipping plus customs tax and whatnot. Most of us order straight from the states and try group buy if we can to save on shipping.

Edit - OP, this kit actually works out cheaper than ordering straight from MAP. This kit, through MRP is GST inclusive and shipping is free, which is pretty sweet. If you were to order straight from MAP, you'd pay the same amount +shipping from the states which would sting you pretty bad at customs. 15% on top of the kit+shipping+15% on top of shipping + customs tax and handling would bring you closer to 3kNZD if not more.

A lot of the time I order from the USA because it is much more cost effective even with shipping and what not.

Everything valued at NZ$300ish or more will get held at the border until you pay 15% Goods and Service Tax, a fumigation fee and tax on the fumigation fee.

E85 is available in Hamilton and Mount Maunganui.
