clunk issue

ok guys I just recently bought an evo and I've never owned an awd car so I have no clue if this is normal...well I'm getting a clunk that sounds like it comes from the rear diff when I decel and step back on the gas...it mostly happens in 5th but I got it to do it in 4th as well...sometimes it'll do it when I press in the clutch on decel...I can get it to do it softer or lower sound if I slightly ease on to the gas after decel...almost as if I'm easing the driveshaft to get up to speed again...sometimes when I press in the clutch and it clunks the car jerks a little back and forth...any ideas of what this could be?

no clue on that one. you may want to contact an Evo specialist or a transmission specialist like Jack's Transmission or Shep.

check the carrier bushing for the driveshaft as well as the rear diff mount and hey while you are under the car check exhaust hangers and connections too. check everything basically, lol.

yeah I've been doing some reading and people talk about those carrier bushings and diff mounts...but why would its sound like this? does the diff actually move around? I plan to get all these bushings in the future but for now will it hurt anything to ride like this?
