IAC Warm Up Flapper Valve

First things first: I'm an idiot.

Now that that's out of the way here's the problem. I had a boost leak coming from the IAC warm up flapper valve O-ring. I went to take it out tonight without knowledge of the parts inside. I have since learned and now need to know what I'm missing (if anything). I'm trying to find an exploded view of the 03-04 throttle body but I haven't found one yet. This is what I've found so far in parts, what am I missing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Bump for some help. I'm also trying to figure out how much preload to put on the flapper spring.

Is it located on the throttle body?

Try reaching out to Aby@MIL.SPEC he sells throttle body replacement seals and rebuilds them all the time. He would be a good source to ask.

I've only replaced the IAC myself and have never seen the part in your attached pic. Sorry...couldn't help you out more...

The flapper is not meant to be removed, that is why you can't find any diagrams or pictures.

I have had to replace a few of the o-rings myself, and it looks like you might have everything... there is one part that is split in half and only fits one way. Its been probably 6-8 months since I had one apart, but it looks like the round part at the end in the picture. Is it two pieces sitting together?

the flapper valve would give me a high idle when I deleted the coolant lines, i know it doesn't pertain to your problem, but i would highly suggest you re install it with enough spring tension to keep the flapper in the closed position and letting the idle air motor regulating the idle.

Just something to keep in mind when you reinstall this

SilverShadow - Yes it is in the TB. Only on 2003-2004s.

superbovine - Yeah, the two-piece ring you mention is what you see in the picture towards the end of the shaft. I thought of getting a hold of mil.spec but figured I would see if anyone on the forums knew before bothering a vendor. I'll reach out to them tomorrow.

Ya, if that is the two piece part you are all set. Just assemble it on the bare spot in the shaft and you'll be good to go. Put a new o-ring on there or use some semi-plyable sealant (DP300, etc) on the old o-ring if you can not find one.

Thank you. You just solved my problem and possibly saved my auto-x this weekend.

Hey guys, i also had a boost leak coming from this area. I took this flapper valve out, RTV'ed around the rubber ring and put it back in with the plastic pieces in place.

Here is where things get weird. For three days the car drove fine, in the mornings and all. Then on Thursday I added some more coolant (because i lost some when taking the TB off to do the fix) and the next morning the car started idling like crap, especially while cold. It wants to stall, and does a few times with AC on. It also runs super rich.
Once the car is really hot, like after highway driving, it stops having issues.

And one time, it threw a vehicle speed senor code

So can this flapper valve started all this or is it a bad speed sensor and the flapper valve is just a coincidence?

I am stumped.
