Removing Evo 8 Block but Not Tranny

I am currently in the process of removing my Evo 8's block, but I am leaving the transmission in the car still. I have everything unbolted, and there is a gap between the block and transmission, but I can't get it to just move more towards the passenger side of the car so I can lift it up and out. Is there a certain way that it has to be done?

Thank you.

It won't work dude

Your making it so much harder for yourself.

Unbolt the tcase from the trans and pull the trans with the motor.

I know you said everything's unbolted but is the transmission still on the mounts?

it can be done but you have to remove all timing components from the motor for more clearance but it is much easier taking it out everything on at a time good luck

Its possible. You may have to unbolt the transmission and rear mount so you can slide the transmission towards the drivers side more just to help give you more wiggle room. I did this on jackstands without a cherry picker so if you have better equipment than I had it shouldn't be too bad of a job. g/l

You should push the release fork in the right direction, insert a screwdriver between the pressure plate and the clutch bearing and then pry with the screwdriver to separate the clutch.

I still have the transmission mounts in.
All of the timing components are removed.
I forgot to disengage the TOB, so I'm in the process of doing that. I think that's what my problem was. I will post back once I get that taken care of.
Thank you!

I've almost got the block out. The front guide is completely out of the tranny, but the rear one doesn't have enough room to clear the transfer case. I unbolted the transfer case from the tranny, but they are still sticking together, and I can't get the extra inch I need. I have already removed the driver's side front axle from the rotor, so it's hanging freely. I just need to separate the transfer case and transmission another inch and I'm good. I just can't figure out how to do that.

What a mess. I pulled my engine and tranny last weekend in my driveway and it took about 3 hours as one unit. You're creating way more work than necessary.
