After clutch replacement, steering feels weird. Some turns are really light and some turns are really heavy. It feels like if the car has lost steering response.
At some point, feels like power steering is not working. It doesn't feel the same. Anyone experience anything similar after replacing clutch.
Same problem here after gearbox swapped last night.
Anyone can advice?? I thought my mechanic do a poor job on the PS system, i diy flushed it and bleeded it with new fluid, it's still the same... I bleed it by disconnecting the coils n crank them intermittently..
Can AYC fluid on low level causes this?
The symtomps are like when turn from full lock left to full lock right, the steering become (light, heavy, light, heavy, light, heavy)

Try bleeding it like this. get both front wheels off the ground (it will make turning left to right easier). Top the reservoir off, put key on pos 2 engine off ( to unlock the steering wheel. turn lock to full lock on one direction, hold for a second and lock to other direction and hold for another second. Do this about 4 times, check the fluid level making sure it doesnt drop too low. After this you should be ok to turn the car on and turn the wheel and it should be ok.
On another note, a failing power steering pump can have those symptoms. No amount of bleeding will fix it if its a bad pump, the solution would be a new power steering pump unfortunately.

Hi TommiM,
I have tried bleeding exactly the way you mention, but still have the intermittent steering light/heavyness..
It was all fine until i drop the subframe for a gearbox swap.

Sigh... How to tell if the pump is bad?
Just like was said, possibly a line got pinched during the subframe removal. carefully check the hard lines of the system to make sure they dont have a sharp bend to them.
Inspect the intermediate steering shaft. I had the same problem when the subframe was lowered to remove the transfer case. The mechanic separated the shaft (as circled red in the attached pic) and reassembled the two halves with the wrong orientation.
I had the same heavy, light, heavy feel. Flushed and bled the PS system thinking the fluid was the problem. I changed the orientation of the shaft as pictured in the manual/attached and problem solved.
