threw a cel code p0401 EGR insufficient flow error
found out this wasn't my problem. both hoses were on quite tightly. could this same problem happen because of a failing o2 sensor? the car is running great, just really rich. I threw the code once, cleared it, threw it again and it cleared itself this time. the second time it only came on for maybe 45 mins running time. would replacing the o2 sensor make it run less rich. and fix the problem.

GET THE CODE # FIRST AND DO SOME RESEARCH TO UNDERSTAND WHAT"S GOING ON.
LOL Came back from and canyon run and had a check engine light. Pulled the code from the car and it's was a P0401. Searched Evom for some info and came across this thread. Went to the car and the EGR hose was dangling! Put it back and resetted the battery now hopefully the CEL won't come back. This thread ROCKS!!!!! Thanks Guys!
WOW! My CEL actually came on today for the PO401 EGR flow insufficient and just decided to research the code on the forum.. AND WOW! Got alot of info and was right!
haha the Vacuum hose on the egr was completely off. Installed it back on.
THANKS GUYS! and glad to be part of the community.

Yea, i threw the p0401 a few weeks ago, zip tied all the vacuum hoses and cleared the code.....and it threw it a again on a short drive....so i took off the wiring clip that connects to the EGR and put it back on....everything is good now...
I had the same code when i first got my evo..!! hose was loose.. tighten the thing up, reset the battery.. code came back again.. everything was tight.. so I took it to the dealership.. replaced the EGR itself.. and never came back again.. its about the only thing I've ever gotten done under warranty..
funny thing is.. it happened like after 25 miles.. and they still gave me ****.. they even asked me if I had any mods done to it..
I said nah.. just got it yesterday!!I was about to give the car back and get my 350Z back..
If its not the hoses.. then its the regulator itself..

I have an '06 Evo 9, and I'm getting the 0401 EGR codes... checked the hose connections, they're tight; erased the codes with my OBD2 scanner, and the two EGR codes came right back the next day.
My car only has 7400 miles on it... does this part often fail this quickly??
Next time you are tuned ask your tuner to turn the EGR/Evap code off. CEL fix that is 100% reversable when you need it to be.
Assuming you dont have a loose hose obviously
