So, we did a head gasket on a mates evo 4 which apparently has the 6.5 motor in it, looking at the thermostat housing etc also indicates it may be a genuine motor. however on reassembly the dipstick is nowhere to be found.
have bought a replacement dipstick from a mitsi wreckers but it is for an evo 7 apparently.
After filling the car with the correct amount of oil according to the fsm the new dipstick reads about 5cm above the full mark.

I suspect that its the wrong stick eh. Could anyone please whip out to their car, measure (from the bottom of the white plastic) to the high oil mark, the low oil mark & the bottom of the stick -(please also state the engine you are running, 4,5,6,6.5 so i can see if they are the same. and i will just trim this bad boy to length. don't want to start the car until i am 100% the oil level is right.

Have you started the car up at all? If you pour in the specified amount it will read higher as that oil hasnt flowed through the oil filter, oil cooler, etc. If you poured in the correct amount and ran it and then rechecked and the level is good then you should be fine.
