The A and SA are A-beams, not H-beams. Their H-beam is their strongest off-the-shelf rod.

I ended up going with their most expensive H beam Carrillo offers with the Carr bolts as well. Car will be a mid 800whp car all said and done.
Hopefully all is well with this choice.

They shouldn't even offer a Pro A for an EVO. THEY rate them at 75bhp per cylinder. I have a box full of Honda Pro As from guys who didn't believe that

You will be fine. Its a good rod for that. Only run the Pro H for anyone else reading. The Carr bolts are real nice, but their base bolt holds up no issue if you wanna save a buck.

I didn't realize they were a-beams, and that weak lol. The one place that sells them still pictures an h-beam rod..

I'm fairly certain that Carillo's A-beams are in fact the same rebranded Chinese rods I've seen on China based websites, a la Eagle, Manley, Brian Crower, K1, etc. Almost everyone has a budget option these days to stay competitive. When it comes to a turbo engine generating 250+whp/L and similar torque however, the rods are perhaps the worst possible place to go cheap.

the A beams are non rebranded chinese rods. they are a very nice billet rod. simply not designed for turbo use. it was designed for n/a.

I've read conflicting reports about this, so I contacted Carrillo about it. You are correct. Both the H and A beam rods are actually made from the same forgings. The difference is machining and design.

Evidently, the familiar looking Chinese A-beams are Carrillo knock-offs, hence the speculation.

They warranty the integrity of the rod itself (e.g. quality of steel and proper size).

depends on which rod. A stock I beam will likely come apart with prolonged use. An R&R or manley TT would be fine..

Still waiting on the rods to show up. Plan on posting some pictures of them when they do.
Crank and everything that can be assembled has been done.
Probably delayed shipping due to the holidays.

The Carillo Pro-H is a badass rod. I would choose it every time over a Manley I-beam. Lighter weight with plenty of strength.
