Subframe trimming for tranny installs
Has anyone slightly trimmed the subframe corner where the tranny likes to get hung up on during installs?
Seems to me trimming this 1/2 lip in the trouble area would make install a lot easier.

I know exactly what you are talking about and all it would take is just a smidge. I'd just be hesitant to start grinding away at the subframe although Ive already cut into mine in the past thanks to seized LCA bolts.
If you have the cash the best option would be to pick up one of those trick lightweight subframes. Not only would you shed weight there would be some much more room in there and would make dropping the trans a breeze.

How do you avoid alignment issues this way?
Also if the column is all you're disconnecting, how far does the subframe actually move?

no alignment issues, its a splined shaft. Granted, you should get an alignment done whenever you drop the subframe. Just make sure the steering wheel is locked centered. It then moves as far as the power steering lines allow it to, which is quite a bit..
