Need some help with oil residue spots

Hello just need some advice on my car. I bought an Evo 9 with 60k miles 3 weeks ago and unfortunately something came up so I have to sell it. I had someone come look at it today and they pointed out a couple spots where oil looks to have leaked out. He claims that just from these spots that the engine is going to have to be rebuilt and would only offer me an extremely low price. I came from wrxs, this is my first evo and that just seems strange to me. The car drives fine and to me sounds fine so I just don't know if he is right or if he was just trying to take it for cheap. The car doesn't leak any fluids on the ground. Again it's just residue like maybe a leaky seal. Here's some pics, any help I'd extremely appreciate.

Right into oil pan

Also a video of engine running
Thanks

looks like a simple slow valve cover leak... probably normal for a 60,000 mile car

i cant tell for sure on the next pic.. but is that the oil return going into the oil pan?

either of these would absolutely not warrant an engine rebuild.

a compression test would give you a glimpse if the motor needs rebuilding.
a leakdown would tell you alot more.

Yeah, right where it goes into the oil pan. It doesn't leak on the ground so I cleaned it off to see if it'll show up again. Also he also mentioned when putting hand down on the engine that every so often it would kind of knock. Again that seems somewhat normal to me. I'm new to these cars so would that also be an issue?

With that logic, I would have needed a rebuild twice already. Sell it to someone else or be firm on your price. We need to keep these cars out of hands of broke fools that would just continue to devalue the platform.

The oil residue is normal, just clean it off and observe. Pic #2 is right by the oil fill cap and there is a drain tube right by that valve cover bolt. It's easy to spill oil in that area without a funnel when adding oil. A valve cover gasket is cheap replacement if oil seepage continues to recur. (the FSM actually calls for a new one every time the cover is removed)

Pic # 3 is also an easy and cheap fix if oil seepage continues. Just change out the paper gasket (dealers will have the newer version with an extra seal on one side) and the two washers, which act like dowty seals for the bolts.

Good luck with sale.

I would run the car and while it's idling spray the spots with degreaser (LA Awesome at Dollar General is dabomb!). Then agitate the area with an old toothbrush before rinsing it off with low pressure water hose. If it continues to leak just replace the valve cover gasket.

When buying my next car.......

"yea man... that really is a nice GTR.... but when i hold my hand on the motor while its running... i can feel it knock a little bit. No doubt that motor needs to be rebuilt and these things are a fortune to rebuild. I would give you $25,000 for it but that's TOPS!!... and you putting all the risk on me brothaaa"""

Thanks for the info everyone. No joke this guy was trying to get me to take 12k saying it was going to need a new engine. An Evo 9 with 60k miles that drives great for 12k. These people from craigslist are really driving me crazy.

Tell them it's the Evo's special Rust-Proofing feature!
