The turbo looks like its an amazing deal, the cartridge is ceramic ball bearing and it is dirt cheap. Only downside I noticed was that the oil drain and feed are not the same as the GT turbos. The exhaust wheel also has the same dimensions as the old stage 5 wheel from the T-series turbos. If you live in Europe, the cheapest place I found it was at http://www.turbosbytm.com/products/135

Awesome, very interested to see how that turns out! Please do update It seems very much to me like like it should be pretty close to a PT6262

Looks very much to me like they are selling cores they have always done from the DBB T-series turbos they have done for a good number of years, but with updated compressors and compressor housings.

While there is nothing official to say so, the measurements and housing options etc etc all suggest that there is something like this going on:

GTW34s use a stage 3 T3 turbine
GTW36s use a stage 5 T3 turbine (from T350 fame)
GTW38s use a P-trim T4 turbine (from T04S, T04R and T04Z fame)

Doesn't mean destined for failure, there are plenty of turbos people love which are still based off old school Mitsi, Garrett etc turbines

Stage 5 T3 wheel is a cut down GT37 wheel.

GTW3684JB is looking pretty sweet though if you could get it TS T4.

I got it done yesterday, I will get the dynosheet up in a few. Basically the test car wasnt really a great example of what this can do being a DSM and having small exhaust. It spools about like a 37R on a 2.3 will and makes about the same power. Since the DSM 4G63 head isnt as tolerant of boost as the Evo version, I was limited to 22psi.

Hmm that's not really remarkable, though still - however I guess comparing JB to BB it offers a pretty good value for money alternative to a 37R?

This one didnt want to take any timing which doesnt help power of course, spool is 20psi at 4700.

Wow, that setup doesn't pay off. So that's a 2.3? And with headwork/cams?

Thanks for sharing, anyway!

What was the A/R of the turbine housing and was it a JB or BB turbo?

We are going back thru the car and fixing things I started to find on the dyno. It is a ball bearing turbo with a 0.82 T3. The exhaust needs scrapped, the ignition was craptastic, etc. Once it all gets sorted I will get it back on the dyno and leave the timing at "Evo" numbers and toss some racegas in if I need to make sure its knock free.

The engine was built by a different shop 10-11 years ago. I am reasonably certain the head is stock, cams are unknown, and it still has a stock 2G intake manifold on it which is not the best combo.
