2.1L timing help...

ok so i did the timing belt install on my 2.1L engine, it has a 4g63 evo 9 belt, just wanted to know that the tension is correct when you can easily slide in and out the grenade pin from the tensioner after all the timing marks are lined up, is that correct?

That is correct. You want to make sure the pin can easily go in and out AFTER spinning the motor over by hand. I usually spin it to TDC 6 times to be safe.

I spin the motor to TDC 3 times and let it set 30 minutes, if I can slide the grenade pin back in I call it good

yes first i let the tensioner sit for 15 mins before turning the motor over by hand 6 times, then it was a little snug, so i loosened the tensioner pulley bolt and turned the two holes in the pulley counter clock wise, again waited 15 mins before turning the motor over, after that i came in and out like butter.

i think i have the right tension set, fingers crossed.
