Is it normanl for a Transmission gears

Hi guys first thing first, its been a long time since i drove manual it was 1998..2000 i start driving auto when i came here in the states...thats being said..now that i start driving manual i again,it feels weird when im shifting gears,i can feel the gears in the shifter when it engaged.its not soft like u know when ur shifitng on arcade racing games..when i get a customer on the shop and its manual the gears its engaged but i dont feel the gears grab,my mind thinks because those cars r old and pretty much beat up..so for a evolution cars, its that normal to feel that when your shifting..or in any car?i dont know if the car had a rebuild transmission before..thanks hope anyone can give me ideas..thanks

How bad is it? The Evo 5 speed is notchy. You shouldn't be getting blocked shifts though..

I'm not quite sure what you were saying but some transmissions just aren't as smooth as others and the Evo 5 speed is notchy. It doesn't indicate a problem. Many very strong transmissions are not smooth.

since you just got the car I would probably change the fluids and look into shifter bushings. I changed my clutch master and slave cylinders at 68k and also put in a new clutch at 62k. Even with all that I still feel the shifting could be better but once the cars warmed up it shifts great

You're the only one on here that I've seen describe the issue I experience. It seems to only occur when cold, but I can feel the gears moving even when the clutch is fully depressed.

yap that's what happen to me too, when its cold...also do you guys think it also affect if my transmission reservoir is above max line?coz I add some, when I was doing my oil change theres a few fluid coming above the transfercase so I don't know whats above that and where the fluid coming from..anyway just to share whats going on undercar..beside that, most of the component have been replace..there all OEM though...later
