Does the 5 speed have extremely high rev? Like, being in 5th being around 80mph, seems the rev is around 4k already, is that normal for everyone else?

Are you guys sure its the same set?
Im 99% sure PPG here made the first run of 6sp kits for Shep.

Also PAR (Precision Auto Robotics) in Sydney has made billet upgraded gears for a 6sp guy locally as well.

I was curious about it being the same also because I thought Shep quit building them because of problems getting the gearsets.

Any of you run decent power on a stock 6 speed for a period of time?
There's a thread here regarding 6-speed owners and power levels. I'm still on the stock 6-speed at 390 tq. I've been on this power level for a few years. The general consensus is that it'll hold, but can lead to failure in the long run.
If you have the time and resources, it's a good idea to reinforce depending on your use.

I'll be going built motor and am still undecided on exactly what turbo and engine I'll go with but over 500 lbs ft of torque is in the plans.

we all plan 1,000,000whp/tq.. but as long as you are being realistic about your build, then you can make an educated decision on what you need.

We have a Shep-built PPG 6 speed here if someone is interested in purchasing the gearbox... PM for details. We put a 4.11 final drive ultimate ratio 5sp in for drag racing (140+traps goal) or we'd still be running the 6sp.
