Fpblack ss housing results?

Not sure if this is the correct area to ask this question but, I honestly cant find ANY dyno sheets on a stock block SS housing FP BLACK. I believe there is one from TSCOMPTUNED but not really much else? Is anyone on here running this turbo now? and what are your thoughts and impressions on it? Previously my EVO 8 had a HTA3586 on it and was a tad laggy but "doable". I'm guessing real world "spool" is probably between a 3582 and a 3586 (guessing). Anyone who has input please feel free to respond. (Goals are 450-470whp ish on 93 octane, 550whp on E85)

I can feel the lag from here. The Black was laggy on twin scroll, throw it back another few hundred RPM on single.

The new HTZ Green is a 57# a minute turbo. That is very close to the old HTA Red of 59# (New HTZ Red is a 61# a minute turbo).

Get yourself an HTZ Green and call it a day. And get one with an MHI hotside if possible.

yeah I probably should have done abit more research lol. I bought a black a couple of weeks ago while FP was having the sale, God sounds like its going to be just as laggy as a HTA86. Should have gone for the red. I wonder if FP will let me "trade" lol

It will not be as laggy if it has an MHI housing. But it will be laggier than a Red. FP Reds seem to spool ~4500 on a 2.0 and ~4000 on a 2.3.

naw its the new Stainless housing ,the MHI was a tad bit out of my price range at the time, I would have gone for the MHI if I had the funds (they put the MHI on sale about 1 week after my order shipped)

The Red with MHI housing is a very well balanced Turbo. The transient response is quick and it can make 600whp on E85 with high boost/good tuning. With the twin scroll it feels close to the stock turbo but never falls off. The twin scroll helps spool and makes more torque. On my car with the red it would make 350-360 ft lbs by 4000 in 3rd (4.11 FD) and Make 400 ft lbs for awhile.
A black works well on a 2.3/2.4 IMO. Depending on what your goals are you may be able to trade or just grow into the black. Either way, make sure you have a proper recirculated catchcan setup. The FP turbo's are sensitive to any crankcase pressure . The extra power will be fun regardless.

I just put together a FP Black ss housing on a stock block. Im still on a rough tune but my frist impression is its a little lagy. It comes alive at 4000-4500rpm. But when it does it's an absolute beast!! I don't think it's so lagy that u couldn't run it on a road course or rip up a curvy road. But if that's your main focus then I would definitely get a red. If drag racing is mainly what your doing then the black is a great turbo.

The red has similar response to what you described, green sounds like the way to go for a street light car vs highway car. I'm about to list my ss red for sale.

I'm pretty picky and the mhi red has great response for daily driving or anything else. The twin scroll makes a large difference in spool and torque on the bottom end.

Can you track down a good mhi housing to machine to fit the red ?

If I was ready to build my motor, I would trade you my MHI setup for the SS setup. But that won't be until probably late 2016...

Is that a ball bearing or journal bearing? And 4k-4500 sounds perfect to me. I dont plan to do any sort of autocrossing at all, this is solely for drag racing and the occasional highway pull. If I wanna autocross Ill throw a 71HTA on lol.
