Suggestions on a great quick response turbo

Hi everyone, I'm in the middle of building aND my goal is 400-450 awhp. This will be a daily on 93 pump gas. It going to have a built buschur 2.0 shortblock, cosworth m2 cams, upgraded springs valves retainer, 3.5 ets intercooler, Id1000 injectors. My question is what turbo should I run. I'm looking for a quick spool turbo, the less lag the better.

71HTA, cheap and should meet your goals with that built motor.

71HTA. it will make that power without sacrificing spool. plus, it's the most fun turbo i've ever owned.

and yes, it's an FP turbo. i tossed the TiAl CHRA into an old 10.5 MHI housing and couldn't be happier.

FWIW, my track tune is VERY safe. 345/300 or so on 91 oct and 26psi. we haven't tuned for "fun" yet. i don't like using e85, so i can't say what it does on that, though i may do it just to get a dyno number.
i have a very mild 264 cam, TBE, LICP, FMIC, and a cone filter. everything else is stock.

Are you looking to make this power on pump gas? That's what the 1000cc injectors would indicate. You likely won't quite do it with a 71hta. A Blouch 1.0xt might do it. An FP green will.

I'm hoping to 400-450/400 on pump gas. My cams are 272. Considering you made 345/300 on 91. It seems like my goals aren't hard to reach with turbo. My only concern is will I be pushing this turbo to hard? I'm also running the stock bov/dv on my 9 which should hold up for me unless I'm told to upgrade them.

Im confident with M2 cams on a evo ix you will hit your goal with a 71hta on 93 octane. (Dynojet)

from what i'm told they don't like anything over 30psi. i run mine at 25 but like i said: super safe LOL. in fact, i don't run any of my turbos over 27psi.
i track the car so don't want to run on the ragged edge. it will do better on a "street" tune. plus, i have very minimal mods. my focus was on low and mid-range torque. though i only make 345, the torque curve is awesome. the car goes NOW.
with bigger cams, some other bolt-ons, etc, i think you would be fine. if you missed your 400whp goal, it probably wouldn't be enough to notice.
i've always run OEM DVs without any problems. i did crush mine a bit, though, just in case.

Is this the turbo you guys are talking about? If so do I need to send them my stock turbo? 700 bucks seems kinda cheap for a turbo lol

"Want the best +1 upgrade for you EVO 8/9 on the cheap? Here's a brand new EVO 9 71HTA CHRA, just swap out your old CHRA and slap this one in and you're ready to rock"

CHRA = center housing/rotating assembly. you use your own hot side. it will work with any of them, but you will see the most performance out of the 10.5.
it's really easy: undo a v-band clamp, remove old one, slap this one in, tighten clamp = awesome turbo.
