Weird clearance problem.
I tossed my OEM engine back together with new bearings.
All seems well, except there isn't enough room between the block and flywheel to fit the dust cover, underneath the engine. Well, I CAN install it, but the flywheel rubs.
Anyone have a theory, before I rip everything apart?

i dropped the pan and lowered the girdle. Both installed properly, unless they sent me the wrong ones. ACL or King standard, if i remember right. hm...
I'll have to go look, I think i have an extra set.

Well, that's A LOT of movement for the flywheel be touching the block plate. Something is up with something to with the thrust stuff, or the block plate isn't sitting flat on the block. I doubt you tried to put the flywheel on backwards...lol

I think it was fine before I dropped the trans last, then bolted it back up. I think...not sure, though (a lot has been going on).
Thrust bearings were my first thought. Both sides are the same, right? LOL
And if the crank were forward that little bit, wouldn't I have timing belt issues? I'll I'm selling cams on Monday. I'll see if the crank pulley shows anything weird.
Post some pics of what's going on. It's hard to install the thrust backwards since the tang has to go in the both in the block. You would have to smash the tang to get the bearing installed "backwards".

I haven't, no. I'm really dreading the idea of pulling it apart, again. I don't have help and do it all alone. I had to bench press the trans on, last time LOL.
