Getting Trans off of Engine

I have finally gotten the engine and trans together out of the engine bay and on the ground. And to begin with i have read the commons diys on trans removal and related.

So what my question is.. I unbolted the transmission from the engine while on the ground and got it about an inch apart but no further. I saw where you had to push the TOB apart or whatever but upon doing so it did nothing and now my clutch fork is stuck towards the drivers side. What am i missing? I can not figure it out for the life of me.

You need to bolt the motor and trans back together in order to release the TOB.

When you had it cracked open all you had to do is unbolt the pressure plate.
