Oil in cam angle sensor housing normal?

I am replacing the cam angle sensors on my car (Mivec) both intake and exhaust.

I removed the front cover for both and there is quite a bit of oil inside the covers and on the sensor heads themselves. I've read some posts that it should be dry.

Can anyone confirm if oil on the sensor and in the housing is normal or not?

Yes, normal. That's why the housing is sealed, and the sensor has an o-ring on it.
