Shadrick,

I thought that you were going to have Ray installing them for you.. I told you it was not worth doing the job yourself unless you knew what the heck you were doing.

There is a special tool that you need in order to lock the cam gears. Then you still need to torque the cams and other bolts properly.. not worth in my book.

Contact Ray(rraulston), good luck!!

yeah i know but i figured i would try it my self. looks very easy and it is easy. i just made one mistake. and i have the tensior tool that you are talking about. and i have all torque whreches and things like that. the way i see it. i have done all work on the car so far. why let some one else start working on it now. and this way i can learn how to do it a little bit better myself. and this car is not my only ride. so it can sit for a few days. it it has too.

Explain to me in more detail exactly what you did. It doesn't sound like you "messed anything up". However, I'd say you have no business doing cams without someone experienced standing over your shoulder directing you. You could very easily cost yourself 3 or 4 grand in repairs at shop rates.

What i would do is download the cam install instructions in the stickies, then add a step not listed. Bleed the slack adjusters. When you go back together make DARN SURE all THREE timing marks are lined up!!! I have an Evo here now with the engine out, trust me, you dont want to go there.........Ray

yeah i did print out a guide to do it but i just took out one thing that wasnt on the guide and i just wont to make sure that i aint messing anything up. the part that i actually took out is the lack thing that is on the cam angle sensor. it is held on with a 10 mm bolt. and it is completely round. once i took it out. i spun the engine around to top dead center according to the cam gear marks and that is it so far. i am kinda working on this in my spare time. but i did take that black thing out efore i spun the engine to TDC. then i realized what i had done and put it back in. it went in as easy as it came out. so i think that i am ok. but i just wanted to e sure. other than that one hiccup everything else has been going smoothly. and i have done cams before just not in an import.

TDC on the cams is good ONLY if you ALSO have TDC on the crank. Check all three and if lined up, you should be good. Also bleed the slack adjusters. There is a big thread on here that explains how. Let me know how it goes. Are you going this Saturday to vivid?? Ray

yeah all three are lining up ray. and i should be up there on saturday if i can get my car together honestly i am just working on it in my spare time. i just wanted to make sure that i didnt mess anything up with that lack thing that i took out from the cam sensor. it actually is very easy to do cams. it is just that i dont have a full day to work on it to knock it out(i am going extremely slow on this cam install). but if i get stuck ray i will give you a call. i can get your number from mike.(grey evo with galiga front bumper). and actually TDC on the crand is a little bit off maybe a degree or two but i heard that that is ok
