Need Help! Noise after new oil pump

Whats up Evom, I need some help/advice here. I just recently put a new oil pump on my 06 evo mr. Timed everything up and all looked good. Primed the new oil pump just to be sure and once I turned on the car for the first time I am now getting a loud intermittant ticking noise followed by the oil light. I only ran the motor for about 10 seconds then heard the noise and turned it off. no check engine light just the oil light comes on when the noise occurs then goes off once the noise stops sounds like its coming from the mivec gear idk what it is take a look at the video attached. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated let me know what you think. Thanks all!!

Could be the MIVEC gear. Ask John Bradley. He'll know.

Your oil light may just be on because you haven't had enough time to pressurize the system. I don't remember how long it took my car to build pressure from being completely empty. How frequent is the ticking? Every other stroke? Completely random?

Totally random, I literally only let it run for 20 seconds then shut it off.

Could be so many things. Do you have a stethoscope to narrow it down?

Its hard to pinpoint what it is, I definately dont think its motor related but I do think it has to do with the mivec having lack of oil pressure for only 20seconds that it ran. Im just afraid of running it in fear of doing damage. When I turn the crank manually the noise is not there

Update, pulled off oil filter and lines and found that I am not getting any oil to my engine. Even after I primed the oil pump using a small drill on the pump gear and spinning it to get oil into the head. Anyone have any idea?

when you primed the oil pump did you check that you got the oil or did you just spin it for a couple of sec?

how did you prime it ?

did you pack the new pump with some assembly lube or oil at least?

ticking noise is your lifters / mivec running without oil

Yeah I spun the oil pump gear for quite a bit and allowed oil to come up to the head out of the lifters you could see the oil spraying. Then also disconnected ignition and let the car crank about 4 times prior to starting. Case/Pump was full of lube right out of the box

What rpm is the engine idling at? My oil light will come on if the idle dips to 500rpms...

Anyone have ideas as to why I may not have any oil circulating through the engine? Anything that coulda been messed up when installing the oil pump which seemed pretty straight forward ?

Did you delete any balance shafts? Damage to pickup? Used new gaskets?
Just brainstorming here LOL
