Good luck with that. Over the years I've had a few defective parts cause carnage to other parts on vehicles, and I've always gotten the same BS line that "our warranty only makes us liable for our part, nothing else".

Wow, Curious to see what exactly failed that damaged the housing. Workmanship (installation) could still be the cause but unlikely after 14k miles

Been in the OEM warranty industry for 27 years. Totally understand the grief here. Most OEM warranties, including the one I work for, would not cover the "consequential" damage. But we do have what we call "policy" consideration, but that is usually for the very unusual case, or large volume customer

Yeah no aftermarket parts company is gonna cover anything outside their own part.

Several of us here in our area using the xtss. They shift great at all rpm and have held up strong for long periods of time.

Yeah that's pretty much what they said. It was bought and installed at MAPerformance so it was done professionally, not like it matters to them, but that takes out install error on my end.

That makes two of us! I want to see what happened in there before I go pointing any fingers. I figured if it were install error it would have reared its head far sooner than it did, but anything is possible I suppose. I just thought that with the clutch being so "new" there might be something they could do for me. I don't care about the clutch being under warranty, I just want a new bell housing from them if it was their product that gave out the way it did. All things considered that's a very small portion of what has to get done with the trans build

What is weird is I had an ACT in my SRT-4 and I loved it, but it seems their products have much different manners in Evo's. Anyhow, I figured it would be worth calling them to see if they'd help me out. Not the end of the world either way

I've decided to go to RRT Motorsports in Connecticut for my build since it's a relatively local shop and I've been told they do great work. I spoke with Raif the other day and he answered the phone immediately, provided great information, and was very reassuring. I will be bringing my car to him this weekend so I'll keep updating as he tears into it and I find out what happened! Should be up and running by mid week next week!

Absolutely! I'm gonna talk to Raif and have him take pictures throughout the process for my documentation, and so I have something in hand to fight with ACT when that inevitably happens...

Understood.

how many miles are on the clutch?

who did the install?

nothing is indestructible.

I just hit 14,000 miles with the clutch and it was installed by MAPerformance. I definitely don't expect it to be indestructible, but I figured it would last more than 14,000 miles with zero launches... I guess there's no real way of knowing if anything will last, but I wouldn't think it would explode under "normal" driving conditions.

Exactly. Not trying to point any fingers yet as I stated before, I was just saying generally I didn't think my trans would have let go in the manner it did.
