3 Port Boost Controller to Electronic Boost Controller

Hey guys,

Answer might be obvious to some, but I just wanted to check with you guys first; I want to replace my Grimmspeed 3 Port boost controller with an Electronic boost controller. Question is, do I need to do a retune/touch-up tune after I install the EBC?

And the reason why I'm doing this is because my boost gauge shat itself (I actually dropped my gauge ) so instead of spending $250+ on a new gauge (here in Australia) I thought I might as well get an EBC that already comes with an electronic boost reading on the control unit.

And bonus is I get rid of that clicking noise from the 3 port

Anyways, let me know what you guys think??

ah ok, thought so was just hoping I didn't have to pay for a retune lol.

yeah it is normal but I just don't like the noise. I'm assuming the EBC doesn't click??

clicking depends on where you mount the little valve... EBC comes with its own 3port so if you mount it in the same location, on the chassis rail, you will hear it too... I mounted the 3port on the engine and no more clicking.

If you stick to the turbo pressure you had before, you will not need a remap.. Doing a check, checking knock and fueling is recommended from time to time anyhow..

next to the exhaust cam sensor... I dont think I have a pic.. this was on a friends car... but you can mount it anywhere.. I like to keep the tubing short..

ah ok cool thanks.

I've attached my dyno sheet, you can see it runs boost to 25psi at 4k. Will this be easy to replicate on the EBC? I'm not sure what to do just yet but I'm a quick learner so I'll do heaps of reading up first. Just wanted to make sure it doesn't need to be dyno'd to adjust boost properly

Injen does make a great sealed intake for the evo x. https://www.injen.com/evo1800.html
one of the only fully sealed intakes and doesnt use the stock maf housing. Only think i dont like about it is that it takes up a ton of space in the engine bay and you have to remove the bumper to install/remove it.
