evo 9 head on evo 8 block

evo 9 head on evo 8 block

I searched all over but, I got limited access i cant seem to find any diy on evo 9 head on evo 8 would like to know if tapping is needed.

I believe MAPerformance makes a kit that includes the fittings and line to supply the mivec with oil. That's the only difference. Direct bolt on otherwise. And of course you need a 9 ecu and engine harness to control the mivec.


Its says it's for a 4g64 block, but it will work on the 4g63 also.

Evo 8 block needs to be tapped for MIVEC feed. It's pretty easy for a machine shop to do. I would say using the OEM MIVEC feed might be preferable to the MAP line.
