Spoolinup Injector Connectors

Has anyone installed these? If so, did you get the the ones with the 6" wire pigtail, or without?

I've got them. They are awesome. I disassembled the OEM plugs. The two challenges are 1) releasing the pins from the factory plug, and 2) cutting off the factory wire grommet. Releasing the pins takes patience and persistence. The factory grommet can not be easily cut by a new razor blade as indicated by the SpoolinUp video. My guess is that the Evo grommet is made of much harder plastic than the DSM grommet. They were easy to cut with dikes though. I think the total swap process was about an hour.

Which ones did you get? The disassembled plugs? I got one with the wire pigtails to splice in because I think the entire plug is bad. For the other 3 I just got the normal connectors that plug into the OEM wires. I'm assuming those don't require taking the entire OEM connector apart?

Yes, I bought the disassembled plugs. The entire OEM plug has to come off. There's no going back once the grommet is cut off. Well, there's no going back to exact stock. Its not a problem though. These Ford Racing plugs are sweet, and it makes it so much easier to pull injectors for service.

Highly recommend the squeeze type connectors!

I followed mrfred's recommended dike method, and it was not that painful at all!

why not just get "original" bosch type connectors with quick release? should be easier to replace..

Those look nice too, but even though they are the original quick release, I'm not sure that they would be compatible with the OEM grommets around the wiring. Have you tried? I guess I'll mention that the SpoolinUp/Ford squeeze plugs are very easy to use. These might be a tiny bit more difficult.

I bought and installed the disassembled ones too.

Ended up watching the video a couple times through... Like mrfred said: patience

My biggest fear was nicking a wire while cutting the little boots. I shoved the tip of a tiny pick between the boot and the wire to give me a little something to cut against.

For me, I was replacing injectors and noted that the little metal retaining clips were missing (which Spoolin up also sells). Yet another one of those "while you're in there" tasks

Ahhh I see. Well the easiest one will be the one with the wire pigtail then. I'm just cutting the entire connector out on that one.

I am not sure what do you mean by OEM grommets.. I had hoped these would be interchangable with the OEM terminals but I ended just cutting the originals off and mounting a new plug...

The Spoolinup plugs do work with the factory terminals, so no wire cutting needed. Too late for your need this time, but maybe next time.

It's a lot easier to just cut the wire than to go through the hassle of removing pins, cutting grommets, and possibly damaging the connectors while trying to get them out.

Its actually not that hard to go through those steps, but I totally agree that cutting the harness is probably easier for many people. I just like to avoid cutting the original harness as possible.
