GSC 5040 vs 5041 valve spring difference

What is the best set for S2s on an Evo 9? They are the same price...

This really depends on what you plan on revving too. Per GSC's site

5040 Beehive Rev and Boost range (using an S2 profile camshaft set)
Max RPM: 8,500
Max boost: 30psi

5041 Beehive Rev and Boost range (using an S3 or R2 profile camshaft set)
Max RPM: 10,500
Max boost: 44psi

One of the GSC spring offerings was reported to have breakage issues. I believe it was either the 5040 or the less expensive option they offer. I'd suggest either the 5041 springs or the Kiggleys.

There's a thread on here that will come up if searched that will give you the specifics on which ones were failing.

Are there any disadvantages with going with the 5041s if your not reving above 8500? I read in some threads about extra cam wear? Will the stiffer springs create more valve train noise?

Why not go with the 5041s?

I ended up going with the 5040s. They are working great with my S2s. I did not want the extra wear on my cams and am not planning on reving above 8500rpm.

cams will unlikely wear more than rocker roller bearings or cam caps.

Am reading your setup and its so close to my evoIX. I have maxed out HKS GTII-7460R at 34psi running quality E85, dynoed 476WHP. Doing some upgrades to get it close to 500 and am stock with valve springs. Getting GSC5039.
