Been wanting to get the trans rebuild now for awhile and was looking for best options. Asked a few times on the Facebook pages but every dingle berry kid wants to comment. Live in Ohio and was wondering who I should send my trans off to. Hear Shep or Jacks but heard some bad reviews from Jacks. thinking of just sending the car up to Buschur and be the end of it but hear he is real expensive.

I've now had my hands in 4 transmission jobs, and a few rear diff build from TRE. No issues what so ever. Send your trans to TRE if you want the best, and a trans that is actually better than OEM.

 

I just had my 5spd and LSD done by Jon.

No denying that he is difficult to get a hold of. But given the work he performed, explanations he provided, knowledge, and the final product... I cant help but recommend TRE.

I also got a clutch and flywheel from him. He also bought back some of the gears I replaced for different ratios, and worked with me on a Torque Solutions 5spd mount(converting from my 6spd).

He also seems to have amazing prices on OE Mitsu stuff, cheaper than STM or mitsuparts.net.

Although I dont have the LSD or Trans installed yet lol.

 

I used Jacks 3yrs ago and its been great. Before that I went through 2, 5th gear syncro's in 2yrs.

Jon at TRE, hands down. He has been building the best DSM and EVO transmissions for 25 years, give or take. He's meticulous, has the real equipment needed to do it over and above, and reasonable prices for what you get. I've had 5-6 of his builds, never any problems and they shift perfectly.

 

Just had Jacks rebuild my IX 5speed. The box they send you to ship the trans is great and allows for easy/cheap shipment of the trans. They turned the tranny around in under 5 days and I have ~1K miles since rebuild with no issues. I only had a single worn shift fork, which they charged me ~$27 extra to replace with a new one. When it was done they sent a video of the trans being tested.
