You shouldn't send anything to Shep or Jacks. The OEM ring/pinion is stronger than the aftermarket one they offer (not the albins one, but the other one). Contact Team Rip, he will build you a solid tcase.

So whats your saying is you should get a aftermarket Diff and have it put back together.

TRE does things you can't do. He machines the case to so they sit square to each other (they aren't perfect from factory), he upgrades the case bolts from 8mm to 10mm, he details and shot peens the gear set, and he sets it up correctly. Mitsu is notorious for having bad setup on the gears, which is a lot of why tcases go bad even in stock cars.

I wonder if the bolt upgrade is really necessary or was it a solution to someone stripping the 8mm bolt holes and fixing it by going up in size

I will be rebuilding my Tcase with a Wavetrac, but not sure if I should upgrade the case bolts.

No, it's because the tcase flexes A LOT under load, especially launches. Jon at TRE actually sets the gears up differently in high hp drag only cars to account for this flex in the case, even with the 10mm bolts.
