450hp goal
450hp goal
i have a 2005 evo8 and looking to make some more power. I have full boltons and want a stock placement mhi housing reliable turbo. With FP only selling SS housings, what options do I have? I would like to keep it stock block
I should state that I have done some research and it seems as if ATP is the only way to go. I hear horrible things about map and locals going through FP turbos left and right. This is all heresay so I don't take it to seriously. My original idea was to purchase a FP 71hta with the race manifold and surge housing. I know this will not net me 450 and I'm fine with that but will it get me into the 400s on 92 pump
What fuel do you want to run? If E85, an FP 71hta will do you well. 92 octane pump gas in WA, you'll need an FP red and GSC S2 cams to make it into the 430-450whp range. With your location, I would suggest taking the car to English Racing for tuning, and talking to them about your goals/budget to see what they would think is the best route for you to go.
You can contact FP in regards to having you current turbine housing machined for the Red turbine wheel. Robert gives a little more leniency on them being cracked these days since finding new ones isn't really an option.

I want to run pump because I would have to travel pretty far to get e85. I have s2 and all other boltons including 02 dump. Only thing left is a turbo and injectors. I will give ER a call and see what they recommended. They have tuned my car numerous times and trust them 200%
I had one, I bought it used, and it sounded like a Kazoo when I put it on. Seller gave me my money back and I bought the Red that's on the car now. I never drove the 71hta.
You may need more fuel pump depending on which route you go. A walbro 255 will run out of steam above 400whp at a certain boost level due the increased fuel pressure reducing the output of the pump. ER can definitely point you in the right direction their as well.

I am sure you have heard this before as well but just to throw it out there again, don't get stuck on a number. Figure out what you want to do with the car and build towards making it ideal for that. If highway pulls and drag racing is what you want then an FP black maybe the better answer but if you want a better all around performer then the red or green maybe the right turbo. If you love instant spool up and just want a little more then the 71hta is probably the answer.
Personal opinion but I couldn't be happier with my green. Does it make 600whp? No, but it makes a really fun high 400s on e85. Having been in evos with blacks and reds I didn't enjoy the lag no matter how slight it is.
