Question Cold Evo shakes

When my evo is cold, it starts to violently shake when i'm moving slowly (around 800 - 2000 revs)- usually in first gear. Does anyone know what's causing this, and how to fix it? I had the same problem on my WRX, but I sold that thing.

It's normal for these cars. Let it warm up first.

Feels like clutch slipping. Goes away when it's warmed up. Just make sure you allow solid contact in the clutch.

It's a pretty violent shake/rumble, and embarrasing when my friends are in it. It progressively getting worse, and the car doesn't even have to be that cold in order for it to occur. Do I already need a new clutch or wut?

Is it your engine that is shaking,or is it car shaking while driving,as this will help in properly diag.of the Michael J Fox syndrome.

I think I know what you mean. You get a shudder in the steering wheel when coming off the line. Bring the revs up a little higher when coming off the line.

I've owned a 2001 Eclipse and currently own an EVO. Both of them did this when it was cold, so I guess it's just a design flaw. I just back off and try again until it catches smoothly. You'll eventually get a feel for it. (or you can just let the car warm up longer)

yeah i get the same problem here, only when cold though. just let it warm up a little longer or give it a few extra revs and it will catch smoothly... it should at least, I don't understand why it would be getting progressively worse though???

well it started shuddering like 1000 miles in, so i just assumed it's gonna shudder more violently over time. Is there anyway I can make it smooth without waiting for the engine to warm up?

No. It's just one of the Evo's "charms."

I will have to agree, that its a personality quirk of the Evo. I had the same issues, but I was not used to the car or how it drove cold. Wait another minute or so before you pull out if its still cold.

If it is during clutch engagement, look at possibly doing the stainless steel clutch line kit. That will firm up your engagement of the clutch and you want be prone to stall it as much.

It's just the clutch needing to warm up. If you let it out too quick the car will shudder (I'm sure you knew that though). When it's cold you will need to give it a little more gas to get moving. Once the clutch is warmed up, you can resume using it normally.
