timing help?
timing help?
alright so i changed out my water pump and while im at it the timing belt. got everything aligned and tension on the belt attempted to start the car it tries to crank over but catches itself (roommate said it sounds like timing) but in the process it trips my 100amp breaker for my battery reloacte. getting up early tommrrow. any help is appreciated.
Off timing wont blow a fuse.
Remove top timing cover to access timing marks on valve cover.
Set crank to top dead center. The crank pulley should line up to cover and the cam sprockets should line up to valve cover. If the sprocket marks are facing down. Spin the motor 180 degrees until the crank pulley is on tdc and cam gear marks are aligned with valve cover timing notches. If they are off you need to remove and adjust accordingly.
Now for it popping a fuse there has to be a short to ground somewere. Double check your work. And make sure you didnt leave any wires exposed. Idk what else or were else you worked on the car. But definately a short to ground.
