I could help you source a used Evo 6.5 RS TME turbo from Japan. Its a great turbo and holds up well as long as you run reasonable boost levels. https://www.full-race.com/store/mhi-...-rs-tme-turbo/

I will have to check my logs. I know it's nothing too crazy because I'm limited by a stock short block and six speed transmission. We made sure we kept everything conservative.

if that has the titanium/aluminum CHRA, I had that on my old HTA 71 (I'm at work now and cannot click on the link ). I really like how it spooled, but I remember the exhaust wheel being on the smaller side and limiting power. I got a really good deal on it through FP because everybody was scared of the titanium wheel LOL. The poor thing had to work really hard to make decent power levels LOL
***edit: I was able to view the link from my phone. Awesome and NOT the smaller turbine housing, but DEFINITELY out of my budget.

That's why I am asking, too little timing can cause high EGT's and kill turbos.

I'll have to check logs when I get home. How ironic it would be if being conservative killed the car.

Used ones go for less than you would think in Japan.

IX turbos are $350-450ish. I can't imagine shipping a TME turbo from overseas would be near that. If it were and clean? Heck yes, I'd be interested.

You haven't mentioned your BOV?

The easiest way to kill a turbo is to have the spring on the BOV too tight so it doesn't vent properly.
Given enough time and going from full throttle to no throttle enough times, it'll surge and kill the bearings, ending up like your photo.

High EGTs will kill the engine before the turbo.

I can show you melted turbo bearing heat shields and cracked manifolds and turbo housings taken off from a otherwise mechanicaly perfect engine..

I think Kaj should keep it 12.5 - 11.0 on full throttle and all will be well.. (if the turbo is not running too fast from keeping too much boost at high RPM that is..)

The turbo seemed to barely break a sweat @ 26psi

Then the turbo over speeds when trying to run more boost pressure.

Nobody knows?

Stock metal EVO X BOV leaks at 25-26psi which is what EVERYONE said it would. I measured it here:

Absolutely incorrect. Please humor us and show proof to back your statement.
