Well, Ted tongiht I changed the camgear settings from +2,0 to -3,-1

I immediately noticed a change in the idle noise, a lot less rumbling....

when I drove the car around town I felt like my midrange was weaker, and yea the low end was dead.... but it sure seemed like up top like 6000 RPM's plus that it would scream all the way to redline.....

IMHO.... I may go back to the +2,0 set-up.....its more street/highway friendly, w/o sacrificing too much top end..... I guess on a 50 Trim....making about 500 AWHP on the top end is not too shabby for a car thats still on the stock bottom end....

Those are textbook results, and accurately describe the difference between advanced, tight LSA settings and retarded, wide LSA settings. As to which is most desireable depends upon the setup and anticipated use.

Gsc S1

Does anyone have any experience adjusting cam gear timing with GSC S1 cams?
(Intake 268 Duration 10.50mm peak lift, 107 degree Centerline
Exhaust 268 Duration 10.50mm Peak Lift, 113 degree Centerline)
I'm currently running Vishnu Stage 1+ (stock turbo). I'm after low- and mid-range power for street use.
Thanks in advance if anyone has experimented with these cams.

Looking at those specs, for what you want, you'd probably want to leave them right where they are. If you have access to very good tuning, you could try retarding the exhaust cam by 1 degree, but that 91 oct CA fuel won't like any more of that.

Thanks Ted, when you say "leave them right where they are" would that be 0in and 0ex or Vishnu recommended -3,-3?

Right where they are means 0/0. The setting Vishnu recommended applies only to HKS cams, which are not timed like the S1s.

I have my S1's @ -1/-2 and they pull hard top. However, below 3500-4000rpms things can get laggy off-boost, even in 1st gear. But that puppy rips up top

Any experts have any experience adjusting cam gear timing with Cosworth Evo 8 M2 (272) cams for strong low to mid range power with stock turbo. Care to share the settings, Thank you.

For best peak hp, you would set the Comp Cams right around -8/-1, or -9/-2. It won't do anything for the spool characteristics, but it will improve peak hp. For best midrange (or whatever you can get out of it with that turbo), set to -1/0, but beware of a rough idle.
Set my CompCam 272s at -1/0 a few days ago....idles fine. I can def feel a stronger midrange and is a bit more agressive once full boost hits....just as predicted. I believe this is right where i want them

the other day on the dyno ... we went from -4,-2 to -2,-2 (or the exh might of been at 2.5-3 and we left it alone) just to see the difference and it picked up a lot in the midrange without losing up top. this was on a gt35r, pump gas 21psi, stock engine. 272/272 HKS cams

HI people. Im having a problem with KNOCK. When I accelerate it shows knock really bad. My mods are: cat delete, cams (cant tell what they are) it lopes pretty good. AEM true time adjustable cam gears, AMS licp, AMS FMIC, MBC, 22psi. I had a buddy tune it. Sometimes it runs good and sometimes it just falls on its face and gets crazy knock. And my cam gears are set -4I/-1E. Suggestions anyone??

I run the same -4/-1 on Helix 272's and I can only get away with 1-2deg of timing at peak TQ. But it pulls like a beast up top and makes 350whp @ 7,000 RPM.
