272/272 cam timing test and tune
That's a prime example of why everyone needs to be advised that even cams labeled '264' can be on the fringe for street use.
For HKS 272, I would recommend +1/-1 for best midrange punch and street feel.

You are damn right, heheh heck they are good for a track only car honestly but for daily driving I dont recommend them hell no. Cams are now in 0/0 so I will tell you how we end up, Im going to the dyno in a couple of hours.
Ok Ted, you were right, exhaust cam leave it at -1 but for the intake cam +3 was the magic number, we found around 27 whp playing with the cam setup changing it from 0/0.
Thanks for the advice as always,
Numbers were :
HKS 272 cams
406.39 whp
SAE
24 psi of boost
88 degrees F
Humidity 50%
Keep the HKS 272's they work like a charm and idle will never be compromised.
Good night me going to sleep too tired.

What do you think of my cam timing?
It's just set after JUNs recommendation.
I would like to get a better spoolup, now I get full boost at around 5500 with my GT3567R turbo.

Ok, I have a set of CompCam 272's ground on 104/112 LCA as opposed to HKS 110/110 LCA. How do i relate these settings to my cams? What setting would net me the best peak hp and what setting would give the best midrange punch and quicker spool up? Mods in sig
reine- something is f-d up with your exhaust cam gear?? it appears that someone did not properly align/place the hub on the gear, as the bolts are slid in the full advanced position, but the timing mark is not in the full advance positiion?
is anyone else seeing this?
your intake cam gear orientation looks wack too
post a pic where the cam timing marks are visible

Tuned an EVO IX on an AEM EMS. Ended up picking up 35whp - 38whp midrange and staying the exact same top end dialing in the exhaust cam. Owner was very happy as he didnt think we would see any gains. Cosworth 272 cams
For best peak hp, you would set the Comp Cams right around -8/-1, or -9/-2. It won't do anything for the spool characteristics, but it will improve peak hp. For best midrange (or whatever you can get out of it with that turbo), set to -1/0, but beware of a rough idle.
Assuming the gears are set correctly (see WOT's comment), the Comp Cams are set like HKS at +3/-1. This is not what you want for best peak hp.

I think you once told me -3, -1 would be the ideal settings for the best powerband to 8000 RPM's when I shift.
