Buschur 2.3

i have a buschur 2.3 with gsc r2’s getting installed in a few weeks and I’m looking at turbo options. Car is my daily but will see the track hopefully once a month. My choices are the FP Zero or FP Black, I’ve read a bunch of people who don’t have this setup making suggestions. I’d really like some feedback from someone with the setup mentioned. Thanks.

A red will be the most fun IMO. With single scroll FP housing on the 2.3, it will be on boil before 4500rpm, pull to 8, and make over 600 assuming the rest of your setup is up to par (cams, fuel system, intercooler, etc)

In the process of finishing mine up at the moment.

BR 2.3 rpm
Exedy Triple
Ported Intake Mani/TB
Ported Exhaust
FP Black jb mhi housing
FP 4R Cams

Main mods I guess. Car made 402/385 mustang dyno. 93 octane 27 lb of boost. Still on stock cam gears need to get adjustable to degree my cams in and work on power band. car is falling off after 6k.

Car makes 20psi at 4200. Couldnt run anymore boost because wastegate spring is to soft in the turbosmart wastegate i have. Tuner thinks we should see 500 on pump anyway once i fix a couple things. Car still feel great coming from the 2.0 with ported 9 turbo.

My car is the red the green is another 2.3 black combo.

2.3 buschur

I have a 2.3 rpm Buschur with a FP Zero. I had a Fp red old school and made 500 horse on E85 on Buschurs dyno. 400 on 93. Loved that set up! Changed to FP Zero, had John Whalen tune it. It made 700+ horse on Whalens dyno. With the red I went 10.7 at 120+ in the 1/4 mile.
With the Zero I ran 10.4 and best trap speed of 144 in the quarter mile. I have not ran car on 93 since tag Zero went on.
I also run a ported stock intake, a ported Fp exhaust manifold , with an Exedy triple . I am not a great driver , but I have tons of fun in this car!!!

I daily my car at 550 on pump with a 6466 and 700 with E85. I'm bored with 550 and every time I pass an E85 pump I'm stopping. I want to get up 800 in the spring. If you share my addiction to adrenaline I highly suggest you get something that will leave you room to grow. It doesn't take long for the car to not feel fast to you again.

The GSC R2 is arguably the best cam for a 2.3 with a mid size turbo. I would do install no less than an FP Red and no more than an FP Black. Both turbos make tons of power on tap, don't take long to spool, and achieve full boost well before redline. How is your driving style? Do you prefer to push it in the corners or in a straight line?

lol r2 are the best cams cuz fp says so...on stroker

not at all depends on turbo s3 will make the most power period

r2 are fine for up to an fp black but power falls off at high rpm

It can make over 700whp on E85. So yeah I think you made a good choice. The FP red and FP black have the same turbine housing, it's the compressor side that's 4mm larger on the black.

Did you read the comment lol?

And the R2's aren't even an FP cam, they're a GSC product.

And of course they fall off at high RPM, they're for stroker motors that only rev to 8500, and for that application, they are better than the S3's. If you're trying to spin something to 9500, the S3's get the edge thanks to their extra duration.

Letsgethisdone I have worked on 900 whp and 300 whp car. I have tried every cam combination and R2 fall off on cars with bigger turbo.

I got mixed up typing on my phone I know they are a GSC product. However on a 64 I would use S3 if it was an FP Black turbo R2 would be fine.

To give you an idea cams ive tested with no agenda to push or sale a product. At the end of the day S3 will make the most power period.

Hmm...I was leaning towards the R2's myself or the S3's.

Just waiting to get some cam gears to see what these FP 4R's end up putting out.

With your input there though thinking I may as well just go S3. Hate buying things twice as it is nevermind three times once i go bigger turbo.
