2.1L serpentine belt chewing problem! Help.

I recently installed a built 4g64 block in my car..now the problem is that the water pump has to have a adapter for it to work with the 4g64 block..i put in a MAP adapter plate but now its eating the serpentine belt.

What's the solution for this and how are other 2.1 guys running it?

Need to find out what it's rubbing on.

It looks straight on that pulley in the photo.

due to the adapter plate and gasket the water pump slightly comes outwards, this causes the belt to rub against the water pump pulley.

how do other people running 2.1L setup overcome this problem?
