Does anyone know if the valve seats on a new OEM head are already cut? Wondering if I can just install a new set of valves or if I have to account for machine work if buying a new head.

No - Bare and covered in cosmoline.

To reiterate - The head comes bare with no valves/springs/seals. I'm wondering if the seats have already been ground and are ready to just slap a new set of valves in.

No - a New Head comes bare - I've already established that fact, what I want to know is if I can buy a set of new valves/springs/seals and install them without a trip to the machine shop.

Of course they're already cut.

They're not going to sell you a head which you then have to take to a machine shop to complete.



Same as when you buy a new head for a diesel, you swap over all the valves and other hardware then check for valve seal and correct clearances.
