Valve Seats on New OEM Head
Valve Seats on New OEM Head
Does anyone know if the valve seats on a new OEM head are already cut? Wondering if I can just install a new set of valves or if I have to account for machine work if buying a new head.
Thanks,

Buy Permatex Prussian blue.
Label the valves per cylinder and check the Valves vs Valve seats.
There are Lots of DIY Video in the interweb. Just skip the grinding and lapping. Just Go to prussian blue valve checking.

No - a New Head comes bare - I've already established that fact, what I want to know is if I can buy a set of new valves/springs/seals and install them without a trip to the machine shop.

Of course they're already cut.
They're not going to sell you a head which you then have to take to a machine shop to complete.
Same as when you buy a new head for a diesel, you swap over all the valves and other hardware then check for valve seal and correct clearances.
