how much whp can the stock IC take?
I think the general consensus, in the UK at least, is that the stock intercooler will support up to about 400bhp. So unless you plan on running higher (or don’t want to go for more costly mods) there is little point in upgrading.
Well...Depends what you're up to, really.
If you're beating up on the car for a while on the track on a hot day, a bigger intercooler can help. If all you're after is a quick street car, the stock IC will do until you start really pushing that little reverse scroll 16G to its limits.

The stock IC is tube and fine (Much better for cooling) and if you do alot of track days you should stick with tube and fine. Bar and plate is less restrictive but does not cool as good as a tube and fine design. I agree the stock intercooler is not going to be a restriction until over 400hp.
Eric
Im thinking about upgrading the turbo with all the extra goodies required with an upgraded turbo.... ex. i/c piping, manifold, dp, AEM cpu, boost controller, etc..... So im thinking on the level of 350-400 whp. So might as well upgrade the IC while im at it
