Tapping sound from 3000-6000 RPM!

After a valve job and installing new GSC beehive valve springs from the machine shop, there is a tapping noise from 3000-6000 RPM's, do the new springs need breaking in or the lifters wern't bled? or is it completely unrelated to these, but the sound is definetely coming from the head...any ideas?

Just to be on the safe side, you should pull the timing belt cover, rotate the engine with a 1/2" socket wrench and make sure all the timing marks line up.

the timimg marks are on point, i also have a delete kit on it, does the oil gear matter which side its on after the delete kit? and again should i bleed the lifters or the new beehive springs are the problem, the car runs fine, shows no knocks except this noise which is annoying.

ill still check these again to be sure.

I'm confused by your question, the oil pump is driven by the timing belt.

yes but when you have the shaft delete kit for the car does it matter which orientation the oil pump is on the timing mark ,plus when I spin the oil pump gear it doesnt react like spining clock wise to come to set on a point.

Confusing posts....but if you have the stubby shaft, then it doesn't matter, since there's nothing to balance.

if timing is okay, go through the "lifter fill" sequence.

Other than that ,could be an install error.

ill have to bleed the lifters you mean? Without bleeding will they make the tap tap tap noise?

Do new valve springs need a break in period?
and do you need to bleed the lifters before you put them in?

I've never heard of a valve spring break in specifically. Yes you have to bleed the "lifters" (hydraulic lash adjusters) before installing them.

The tapping sound got even louder will have to open the valve cover and see whats going on ,i think its the lifters, maybe the mechanic didn't bleed them before putting them in.

btw do put the lifters in dry or fill it up with diesel before you put them in?

FWIW, I've run three sets of lifters and always had a tick. Annoying, but seems to be normal.
