What am I missing on my transmission?

Yesterday I noticed on my Evo 9’s transmission (six speed) an opening that I’ve never noticed it being open or unplugged? This must’ve happened recently since I’m sure I would’ve noticed sooner, I’ve tried googling and doing research but cannot find anything maybe I’m not looking in the right place idk but I need help find out what’s suppose to be there or if it’s suppose to be open like that which I doubt, any help would be very appreciated! I’m learning as I go so excuse my ignorance

There should be a pressed in cover there-covers the clutch fork pivot install area.

Yeah what staywide8 said, there's a little rubber ventilated cap that sits in that

No the end of the world if that's left open as is. It's just a vent hole for the clutch/bell housing. Theres no fluid in there.

I believe ^ is correct. Unless the 6 speed is different there on the 5 speed its a lil freeze plug cap thingy that pops out to gain access to the shift fork.

The six speed may be different but on the 5 speed, at clutch time, you punch the frost plug looking thing into the interior of the bell housing. There's a little bolt inside the bell housing that locks the throw-out arm shaft in place. Remove the bolt and slide the shaft up and out that hole. Then the throw-out arm may be removed. In other words, the hole is there so the shaft can be removed. The frost plug is a dust cover. Since clutches make dust - not sure if the frost plug thingy keeps dust in or out.

It may the spot where the clutch fork pivot rod thingy comes out. If so, it's missing a "freeze plug" like everyone is mentioning. Cheap to replace, if you want. I'd get a something from a hardware store and be done with it.
