ECU reset question.

Got CEL last night under normal driving on freeway.

I had only a 1/4 tank of gas left, so I dont think it would be the gas cap after going that long.

anyway. I was reading the manual, and it said that I shouldnt disconnect the battery terminal because it will delete the history, and that could hinder them from diagnosing the problem. I want to know if that is a B.S. ploy so they can look, and see how you've treated your vehicle so they can pull the abuse card? or whether you can truly hinder their diagnosis by doing this.

In case your interested...car is completely stock, with less than 3000 miles on it. Just driven normally (occassionally spiritedly) to and from on the interstate.

Anyway...someone just right somthing to put my mind at easy...its bothering the **** outta me. and i cant get any sleep

See if anybody with a odb2 pocketlogger can find your CEL code and diagnose it. From the looks of it, I don't think it' is a big problem. If you can't find anyone, just take it to the dealer.

You could just reset your ecu, if the problem persists, the CEL light will come back. IMO, i suggest you go find out what that light is. Do NOT pay a dime if the dealer charges you to look at it. It should be under warranty and a simple task to do.
