TRE Magnetic T-Case Cover

Has anyone seen/installed/used this piece? It's on his FB page, it's a magnet/cooler apparently.

I like the one he makes for there trans, I'm sure this one works as well. The OEM magnet is pretty weak. I was gonna add a rare earth magnet to mine.
TRE's part is nice and I'd probably get one, eventually. But, at that price point, I have a lot of other things to take care of first.

i think the t-case bit is $55.

so it's just a magnet? not a cooler too or anything like that? doesn't the plug have its own strong magnet? I guess I'm not totally understanding where this goes and how much it helps

Sam- I've had his trans 4th gear savor as well as the xcase piece for probably about 4 years now. What is your question as most of this is in his description? The trans plate has more to it than the xcase plate. Are they coolers, well technically I suppose so as they have cooling fins on them to increase surface area. But is a replacement over a dedicated cooler certainly not.

They both come with really strong magnets which helps to pick up crap floating around in the oil. I honestly don't think the xcase piece does all that much but if youre gunna get the tranny one mind as well jsut pick up the other one too. Oh and looks sweet, lol!

The tcase magnet cover is a nice upgrade. Much bigger and strong magnet than what's on the drain plug. I'm not there's much cooking benefit but it does have heat sick like fins on the outside as well.

Oh right you have MR. I thought I had a pic in my build thread but seems I don't. It just bolts right on the bottom of the xcase there is a little access panel, think its just 4 bolts. Takes like 2 minutes to swap just do it next time youre doing fluid if you pick one up.

It's the inspection cover, so:

Yeah its a good idea to check it when doing fluids to clean off the magnet. I cant honestly say I removed mine every time however. That being said I need to flush drivetrain fluids in the next few weeks and since I have a fresh trans and xcase I'll be pulling them for sure for inspection and cleaning.

Looks great and as long as the metal particulates get to it in time it should help keep the little fluid you have in the T-case clean. I don't think it's worth buying for a stock t-case. More like a "might as well toss that in" part for when you get your t case built. Gears naturally generate metal particulate as they wear, maybe this helps keep that out of the bearings.
