Evo is super laggy

Just got my new motor built already put 1k miles on it and drives awesome with no issues during the break in period

noticed that at stop lights or taking off the car has no go and takes forever for it move. Running a GTX3582R turbo before the build and never had any issues

compression test are fine 140 across all cylinders except cylinder one that reads 128 but was stripped from the previous owner and had to fix it. Pistons are 9:1 compression

i did have the head ported fully, exhaust, intake, and valves

my tune is on July 7th, im ruling out that the head has to be the reason why. Does a ported head really make that much of a difference if its not tuned?

that is a big turbo.
before the build would u be able to remember your compression figures?
have u done a boost leak test? did you change cams while building?
and yes, a ported head would need a retune.

a tune might be able to solve that.
but a built engine should definitely be less laggy if you have gone with higher compression pistons

Before it ran fine, but the head was never ported and thats what im thinking. It might need more fuel

but I went with a 9:1 compression instead with 85.5mm in bore size

im getting the tune done this Friday to hit 700hp was making sure it was nothing else related

Are you on SD tune and do you have AFR gauge?

Yes it was tuned previously on SD, and no I do not have any guages in the car and was debating on it but looks like you confirmed why I should get them

That explains your rough idle. With oversized valves and porting, you are moving more air into engine with less pressure. Your idle is probably max lean. I have a friend in same situation and his AFR reading is passed 18.0. Lol

i have no exp with SD, but i am sure i remember people saying that SD doesnt handle new changes very well after it is tuned for a certain spec.

Be careful and stay off boost until you get tuned. You will run lean everywhere.

All of this is pointless with the car not being tuned..

A 3582 should spool around 5-5500 on a 2.0L.

Great, thanks a ton! So im assuming a tune will fix this or there is nothing I can do except replace the head with a stocker which I do not want to do

just dont want to ride the clutch to build pressure

Tuner says I can go slightly into boost during the break in period but dont get crazy lol

trust me driving 1200 miles with no boost is tough

Pointless? I am asking because I never had a fully ported head before and figured since the motor is built do the top end as well

Yes, but you will quickly forget these 1200 miles once your car is tuned. Lol
