Update from Callies - Retail on the Ultra rods is going to be $1250. The first set will be finished in a week or so and he is going to send me over all the specs when he gets them.

If anyone wants to be a test victim for a billet crank and Ultra rods, he said he would hook up the first couple people just to get the product out.

Why would our crank look anything like a VR38 crank?
Inline 4 cylinder vs a V6.

However, we also have this as an option. This is one of JEs sister brands.

Edit - Updated with list price and specs

Boostline is a subsidiary of Wiseco. They would be way more attractive of an offering is they weren't so heavy and were offered in more lengths.

Why would anyone spend more for these I beams over Manley's I beams which have been tested?

Or Carrillo Pro-H which destroy the Manley's in weight and can take all the abuse just the same.

Race Winning Brands is the main company of all of them... JE, Boostline, Wiseco, K1, Diamond, Dart.... All the same manufacture to me since I order all those brands through my JE rep.

It would never look like a VR38 crank. I was referring to the material itself. It looks like it's still plain old 4340 billet. Why can't they build us a crank in pure 4330V steel? Is that in the works ?

How does looking at a picture tell you anything about the metallurgy of the crank?

I don't understand why you want a 4330 crank so badly? 4330 is worse than 4340 in regards to fatigue and bending. 4330 is more likely to crack if it bends. The only advantage 4330 has over 4340 is a higher tensile strength which doesn't make a difference for us because we don't crack cranks from power.

The best thing to do is buy a crank that is properly heated treated and annealed and have it gone over by a mahinist who knows what they're doing to remove stress risers.

Just wanted to ask something. I have a 4g64 with 100mm crank with 156mm rod. I am interested in destroking it to 2.2. If I just swap the crank with a 94mm callies will work with my current rod?

Yes, but you’ll need new pistons.
You are destroking the motor by a total of 6mm.
1/2 of that is 3mm.
The wrist pin needs to be moved down 3mm to bring the piston crown back up to the deck of the block.

But basically you can choose what to change. But what you choose can determine the r/s ratio. With the 159mm rod basically you have better ratio?

It's better, but not necessary. And pistons are less expensive than new rods. My 2.2 4g64 I opted for 156mm rods. It's plenty of rod ratio for 9500rpm, which is about max for piston speed anyways.

Exactly!
What turbo and cams are you running on your 156mm rod 2.2L?

If anyone wants a discount on Callies stuff, send me a PM. I will hook up fellow Evom members.
Hey my brother do you still bet discounts from rallies?
