Bras/alloy flame rings with a crush allowance for the 60thou/1.5mm copper HG with Custom Age head studs in my 2.4lr
An overkill for my boost. They can hold 100+ boost

Why though? If you ever have a cylinder pressure spike for whatever reason , the head gasket blows and everything else survives. You put the strongest HG possible in it and you bend rods instead. Personally I wouldn't run anything crazy unless I was actually planning for over 35-40 psi.

Yeah I understand your point for a non built engine. My engine builder wanted this
My thoughts went out the door when I saw 3 dry sump race engines he just built
Was just saying what HG ended up in my built engine. Overkill for 32psi, prob yes

I think he wanted your money more than anything
I kid, but personally I'm all about that OEM HG life. Even on a built motor- although I typically don't shoot for crazy HP numbers as I'm more of a road course/rally guy.
When I build my 2.4 I'll be running around the same boost as you, but I think I'll end up going with an HKS or cosworth or something since the OEM doesn't fit very well.

i have been running a J&E hg for a while. not sure if they still make them. im on a 2.4L with a 87.5mm bore

i run 28psi daily

be certain to flat sand the head. even thou the mitsu heads gets flycut, the material doesnt clean up as well as other heads.

so i flat sand my block & heads on a granite plate.

Sounds like theres a market for OEM head gaskets to be machine 1mm over? I run a cometic 3layer and have no issues but I also have a small turbo and 475 ish HP at 27psi. But I can certainly make a sandwiching plate to bore over the oem gasket if thats something unavailable anymore. Would be a couple hundred investment on my end for creating the fixture plates and getting a few gaskets in stock but if thats a thing say ~10 people want, I can see what I can do this winter.

You cut into the fire ring in the gasket when you do that, so it's not a viable solution.

Thats what I thought but it did seem historically it has been done. But of course there's probably a reason its not still done.
