Oh nice. That could def be a fast spool setup, but I'd be interested to see how it hurt the top end. .92ar would be a bit small, like running the .62 Vband.

And honestly, I don't think it needs to spoil faster than the setup I posted above on a 2.0. 400wtq at 4k rpm is solid. A 2.2 would spool it around 3500.

On track, I agree. That spool is great.

I'd want the twin scroll benefits for every last bit of spool in the 2nd gear AutoX scenario. 3rd and 4th gear dyno charts don't tend to show that response very well.

Either way, it's good to have options. Props to Garrett for offering so many different configurations. Now I just wish someone could get their hands on a divided unit for some testing.

The graphs look okay Most evo 9 turbos look like that right haha? The 3071r in that build made ~300wtq at 4000 and at 4400 was making ~430wtq. The guy ran out of fuel in that build but I could see it making 600 with that spool. Also that engine does NOT have mivec

Do you want a simple build? If so, build for the FP Red. If it's too laggy, it's not that difficult to swap it out for a Green and retune. Worst case, you sell the turbo at a minor loss and move on to a more complicated setup later.

If you're okay spending a bit more, I'd try the G25-550, or maybe the G25-660 with the new divided housing if you're feeling adventurous.

Ive checked out the videos RS Motorsport have up and it peaked my interest. I’m definitely feeling adventurous so I mean I’m kinda willing to try out the g25-660 with divided housing or even the new G30 series but I haven’t decided yet. With all the data I’ve collected it seems like I’ve narrowed it down to G25-660 or 550, 3071r, FPRed but who knows I might just go and get a giant *** laggy turbo and make 700 wheel haha my car is built to make around that amount I just have always favored spool over top end. I’m so glad there are so many options for turbo chargers in the 480-650 range it makes deciding the best one much more enjoyable.

No, it was 200 at 4k. You have to convert the Nm to ftlbs.

I like this. I was checking out these turbos and really on the fence between the 550 and 660. I had decided on the 550 and pushing it a bit so that I could keep enough response to make me happy. I'm thinking a divided 660 would bridge the gap a bit and be Goldilocks for me. Bookemarked!

Yeah. It's a very fast ramp. Which is why mentioned Dynapaks producing weird torque curves like that.

Having a sleeve made to jam over the 9 intake that will be milled inside for a ram effect. 82mm outside
cfm figures not known. Maybe 3-5lb more than a red. 3.2mm larger inducer. Very close to a gtx3576

My 2 cents as someone who went from HTA71 to MHI Red. The lag was not worth it at the end of the day. Sure I could brake boost from a roll, but the car just felt pretty sluggish until like 4300 rpm driving around town Granted, that is a JB turbo on motor without mivec. but if I could do it again I would have stuck with the punchy HTA71 or just went with the Green. Not gonna lie tho, once the boost of the Red kicked in, it was amazing. Stuck to my seat until I would accidentally hit the rev limiter because the power never stopped coming.

Sounds like you were constantly in the wrong gear.

Even if I punched it in higher RPM, it just didnt have that quick hit that a small turbo has. Guess I'm like Kaj on this one, lol. I have stock turbo on right now and loving it driving around town compared to red. Definitely an awesome turbo for road/drag racing, but just think it's a tad too big for a street driven 2.0l. That is, for me atleast.

You saying always in the wrong gear is correct!
If you don't look at your revs/speed, std or green turbo
If you do take notice of your revs/speed and shift gears, red turbo is fine
