Temp gauge/boost issue

Hi all having a bit of trouble my tempeature gauge seems to read almost cold when driving then when I pull up at light it rises to just under half then I move again it returns to cold
But whilst this has happened it seems the car has a mind of its own were boost is concerned it's al over the place it boosts .7 , 1 bar ,1.5 bar ,1.8 bar
I checked and tested the thermostat and it's operating perfectly
Could the boosting issue and gauge issue be related ??

I can’t see the 2 being linked. Have you performed a boost leak test? What is your target boost?

Yes performed a boost leak test seems to be none present
The car should be boosting
1.85 bar
I thought the thermostat/ coolant temp sensor could be having an affect on the gauge and in turn the fueling/boost due to the factd the cts is a engine management sensor

There is a ground wire, intake manifold to firewall, that if disconnected or bad contact, can produce the readings you describe on the temperature gauge.

if your ground is intact, i would check the wires to the temp sensor and/or replace it.

The ground being there and connected doesn't mean it is making good contact.

So the ground is there and making good contact so just to be sure I made a few more grounds I run 1 from the the block to the firewall and another from the gearbox to the body also
I'm thinking it must be a faulty sensor although it wouldn't cause the boosting issues would it ??

The ground issue affects the temperature gauge. Could it affect anything else - dunno. I mentioned this because it could have been two separate issues.
