Question Screamer Pipe Pros & Cons??

Hi

Would having a screamer pipe be better performance wise rather than a 02 housing for a Evo 8??
Are there any drawbacks with having a screamer pipe leaving aside the noise aspect of it?

Cheers

Pretty much noise, maybe a few ponies. IMO unless you have an EWG big turbo kit or a newer FP stock replacement with the EWG set up, there’s really no huge benefit but noise.

So, assuming stock turbo money can be better spent elsewhere if you already have an aftermarket O2 housing

It makes gains even in the stock frame stuff. ER has a video on YouTube, but I can't find it.

Am I the only one who thinks wastegate growl is the most annoying sound on earth? If you want a divorced wastegate dump to ensure that you're not causing turbulence and backpressure in the downpipe, slap a muffler on the pipe at least.

Pros:
Around 10-15whp almost everywhere

Cons:
Noise (Not necesarrily a bad thing)

My brother's evo swapped from a 3'' downpipe to an o2 dump. He gained 10whp almost everywhere and the car gave you the feeling that it was more responsive than before

Nope, I hate it too. There is nothing good or refined about the noise they make.

Noise, It's either you like it or don't.

Also, Dumps running up to the hood vent tends to collect water. I'm pretty sure that gets blown out once the gate opens...
