Evo 5 rebuild 2l

Hello!

I started evo 5 engine rebuild and i have some questions. Is 2l long rod better than forged 2l option for 500hp? And i f i get long rods how about pistons height, it must be lower its that right? Do i need block machining for long rod?

Thanks!

You probably wouldn't notice any difference with a long-rod engine at 500HP. A lot of the racers don't even use the long-rod on their 1000+ HP cars, so the odds that you would benefit, are slim. If you did choose this route, the piston height has to match (some manufacturers advertise long-rod specific pistons), and the block doesn't need to be notched for any 156mm steel rods.

Long rod isn't even a thing for an 88mm crank. The 150mm rods provides a rod ratio of over 1.7:1 already.

For 500whp, an off the shelf forged piston and budget connecting rod like Eagle will be fine.
